Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee to be listed on Scented Atlas?

No. Basic listings for eligible independent perfume houses and boutiques are free.

In the future, there may be optional paid upgrades – such as featured pins or highlighted collections – to help cover operating costs. If that happens, those spots will always be clearly labeled as sponsored placements.

I’m a perfumer. What information do you need from me?

The Submit form will ask for:

There’s also an optional field for notes—helpful context about your house or store that may guide how it’s presented.

How long does it take to be added?

Scented Atlas is a one-person project at the moment, so updates aren’t instantaneous. I review submissions in batches and aim to add new entries regularly.

If you believe something has been excluded or described unfairly, you can reach out and I’ll review it.

Do you guarantee inclusion?

No. Listings may be declined or removed if they fall outside the scope of Scented Atlas—for example:

If you haven’t heard back after a while, you’re welcome to resubmit or send a gentle nudge.

How do you decide where to place a pin?

Pins are placed based on the city and country you provide—or your address, if you choose to provide one, so the map can display your location more accurately.

If you relocate, rename your brand, or open a new space, please let me know so I can update your entry.

How does Scented Atlas make money?

At present, it doesn’t. This is an experiment and an act of goodwill, funded out of pocket while I assess whether it provides real value to the community.

Future revenue may include:

What will not happen:
Selling personal data, selling mailing lists, or turning search results into unmarked ads.

Can I correct or remove my listing?

Yes. If something is outdated or if you’d like your listing removed, use the Submit or Contact form and include “Update/Removal” in your message. These requests are prioritized.

Do you track individual visitors?

Scented Atlas uses minimal analytics solely to understand overall site traffic and map performance. I’m not interested in profiling individuals.

Any scripts or analytics tools used will be listed in the Transparency or Privacy Policy section so you always know what’s running.
